Creating Projects

A project in LogicSite represents a complete scope of work — from initial survey to final closeout. It's where floor plans, devices, tasks, and team collaboration come together.

LogicSite supports two creation flows — pick the one that matches who owns the work.

Contractor-Initiated Projects

Contractors create projects under a customer's site. Before starting, ensure the customer and site exist:

CustomerSiteProject

Navigate to your customer's page and click the Projects tab.

Click New Project.

Enter a project name that describes the scope — for example, "Camera Upgrade Phase 2" or "New Access Control Install."

Select the site (and optionally the structure) where this project takes place.

Add any project notes or descriptions, then click Create.

Project names should be specific enough that your team can identify the work at a glance. Include the type of work and phase if applicable.

Site-Owner-Initiated Projects

Site owners create projects directly from a structure in their portfolio. Floor plans are structure-owned — they live with the building, not the project — so every project created on a structure shares the same version history.

PortfolioSiteStructureNew Project

Open Portfolio, navigate into the site, and select the structure where the work will happen.

Click New Project. The project starts in Design with you as project manager.

Upload design floor plans and place device locations. When you're ready to solicit bids, LogicSite freezes the current state as v1.

Invite contractors as Vendor Viewer. Bidders are isolated — they only see the frozen v1 and cannot see each other.

Pick a winner. The selected contractor is promoted to Vendor Admin / project manager, your role shifts to Client Approver (client_approver) for approvals and closeout signoff, losing bidders are removed, and a new working version (v2) opens.

Project Dashboard

Once created, your project dashboard gives you quick access to:

  • Floor Plans — upload, annotate, and version site drawings
  • Grid / Sheets — spreadsheet-style device tracking with saved column views
  • Timeline — Gantt phases and dependencies
  • Analytics — status distributions, trends, and KPIs
  • Activity — audit feed of every change
  • Messages — in-context discussion
  • Team — assigned members and their roles

Project Phases

Every project starts in Design and progresses through: Design → Install → Closeout → Substantial Completion → Completed. See Project Workflow for what each phase unlocks in the editor.

Handoff and Placement

When a contractor-initiated project reaches Substantial Completion, the contractor generates a handoff package with a claim code. The site owner redeems the code, which deep-copies the as-built into their portfolio and auto-creates the vendor relationship between the two organizations — no manual placement step required.
