Annotations
Annotations let you add contextual information directly on your floor plans. Whether you're marking up a survey finding, flagging a design decision, or leaving instructions for your install team, annotations keep everything pinned to the exact location it references.
Annotation Types
LogicSite supports several annotation types, each accessible from the floor plan editor toolbar:
- Cloud — Draw cloud shapes to highlight areas, mark zones, or call attention to regions on the plan
- Text — Place freeform text labels directly on the floor plan
- Arrow — Add directional arrows for indicating cable runs, signal paths, or references
- Circle — Mark specific points or areas of interest
Adding Annotations
Open a floor plan in your project.
Select the annotation tool you want from the toolbar (cloud, text, arrow, or circle).
Click on the floor plan at the location you want to annotate.
Configure the annotation properties as needed — text content, color, or size.
Why Annotations Matter
In physical security projects, context is everything. A note that says "mount camera at 12 feet" means nothing without knowing exactly which wall and corner you're talking about. Annotations solve this by pinning information directly to the floor plan.
Common uses include:
- Survey notes — Document site conditions, obstructions, and existing equipment
- Design decisions — Explain why a device was placed in a specific location
- Installation instructions — Leave notes for field technicians about mounting details
- Punch list items — Mark areas that need follow-up or correction
- Client feedback — Capture customer requests tied to specific locations
Use annotations during your initial site survey to capture everything your field team needs. When they arrive for installation, the floor plan already has all the context built in.
Viewing and Managing Annotations
Annotations appear as markers on the floor plan. Click any marker to view its content, add a reply, or update the note. Your team can see all annotations in real time, making it easy to stay aligned.
Discussions on Annotations
Annotations support threaded discussions. Team members can reply to annotations, creating a conversation thread tied to a specific location on the plan. This keeps communication organized and in context — no more searching through emails or chat messages to find that one note about the parking garage camera.
