Shared Projects
When contractors invite team members from other organizations to a project, those members see the project in their Shared section. This enables cross-team collaboration without giving full access to the contractor's dashboard.
Accessing Shared Projects
For Contractors
Shared projects appear under Shared in the sidebar at /dashboard/shared. You can see:
- Projects shared with your team by other contractors
- The source team name and your role on each project
- Filter by status, role, or search by project name
For Site Owners
Site owners see shared projects under Projects in the portfolio sidebar at /portfolio/projects. Each project shows the contractor name, project status, and your access level.
What Collaborators Can Do
Your permissions on a shared project depend on your assigned project role:
| Role | Floor Plans | Devices | Comments | Approvals |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Collaborator | View, place/move icons | View, edit status | Read/write | No |
| Guest | View only | View only | Read/write (toggleable per tenant) | No |
Client Viewer (client_viewer) | View only | View only | Read/write | No |
Client Approver (client_approver) | View only | View only | Read/write | Yes — change orders, closeout signoff |
Collaborators can place and move device icons on shared floor plans. The coverage view lock feature works the same as on owned projects.
Shared Project Floor Plans
When you open a shared project's floor plan, you get the same interactive editor experience:
- View and navigate multi-page floor plans
- See device placements and coverage areas
- Access device group details by clicking icons
- Real-time collaborative cursors show who else is viewing
The key difference: your changes are governed by your project role permissions.
Inviting Collaborators
Project managers can invite external collaborators:
Open the project and go to the Team tab.
Click Invite Member and enter their email address.
Choose a role (Collaborator, Viewer, or Client).
The invited user receives an email and sees the project in their Shared section after accepting.
