Closeout & Punchlist
The closeout process is how you finalize a security installation project. Both the contractor and customer verify devices on-site, resolve any punch items, and sign off to generate the as-built documentation.
Starting a Closeout Walk
A closeout walk can only be started when your project is in the Install phase. Starting the walk automatically advances the project to Closeout status.
Open your project and navigate to the floor plan.
Click Start Closeout Walk in the project toolbar.
If some devices are incomplete, you can override with a reason — the walk proceeds with the remaining devices.
Starting a closeout walk automatically advances the project from Install to Closeout status. Only a Project Manager can initiate the walk.
Punch Items
During the closeout walk, you can flag issues that need attention before sign-off.
Adding a Punch Item
Right-click a device icon on the floor plan during an active closeout walk.
Select + Punchlist from the context menu.
Describe the issue and optionally attach a photo (you can use your device camera).
The punch item is linked to the specific device group and device.
Punch Item Workflow
Punch items follow a 4-status workflow:

Assigning a punch item to a team member automatically moves it from Open to In Progress.
Viewing Punch Items
- Punchlist tab — bottom panel tab shows all punch items grouped by device group, with status filters (All, Open, Resolved, Accepted)
- Floor plan highlight — toggle the "Punch" button in the toolbar to highlight devices with open punch items (red dashed ring)
- Bulk actions — select multiple punch items and update their status in one action
Punch Item Comments
Each punch item has its own comment thread. Use it to document the issue, post before/after photos, or coordinate with your team.
Customer Sign-Off
Once all punch items are resolved:
The contractor signs off first, confirming all work is complete.
The customer (site owner) signs off, accepting the installation.
LogicSite auto-generates a frozen As-Built document — a deep copy of the floor plan that cannot be edited. The project auto-advances to Substantial Completion and the warranty period starts.
The project reaches Completed once every punch item is in Accepted status and (for contractor projects) the handoff has been delivered.
What Happens After Closeout
- The as-built is a permanent record of what was installed.
- For contractor-initiated projects, the PM initiates a handoff to send the as-built to the site owner via claim code.
- For site-owner-initiated projects, the as-built is promoted to the structure's latest version automatically, and the contractor is downgraded to Vendor Viewer for read-only access.
- Every accepted/completed device is stamped with
operationalStatus = 'active'for facility lifecycle management by the site owner.
