Your First Project
Projects are where the real work happens in LogicSite. A project ties together a site, floor plans, devices, tasks, and your team — all in one place.
LogicSite supports two project creation flows. Pick the one that matches your role:
- Contractor-initiated — you own the install. Create a customer, add a site, then create the project. This is the classic integrator workflow.
- Site-owner-initiated — you own the property. From Portfolio → Site → Structure, upload design floor plans and invite contractors to bid as
vendor_viewer. When you select a winning bidder, they're promoted to project manager and you shift to theclient_approverrole for oversight, approvals, and closeout signoff.
Both flows converge to the same closeout, punchlist, and handoff process once work begins.
Contractor Flow — Before You Start
Make sure you have:
- A customer created (see Managing Customers)
- A site added to that customer (see Managing Sites)
- A floor plan file (PDF or image) of the job site
If you're just exploring LogicSite, create a test customer and site to get familiar with the workflow — you can delete them later.
Creating a Contractor Project
Navigate to your customer's page and click the Projects tab.
Click New Project and enter a descriptive project name — something your team and client will recognize, like the site name and scope of work.
Select the site where the work will take place.
Add any project notes or special instructions, then click Create.
Site Owner Flow — Before You Start
Make sure you have:
- A site and at least one structure created (see Managing Properties)
- A floor plan file to use as your design baseline
Creating a Site Owner Project
From Portfolio, open the site and structure where the work will take place.
Click Create Project on the structure. The project starts in the Design phase, with you as project manager.
Upload your design floor plans, place device locations, and refine the scope. When you're ready to invite bidders, v1 of the floor plan is frozen and shared to the vendors you add.
Invite contractors as Vendor Viewer (bid phase). Vendors are isolated — they cannot see each other and only see the current frozen version.
When you pick a winner, promote that contractor to Vendor Admin / project manager. Your role automatically shifts to Client, losing bidders are removed, and a new working version (v2) opens for the contractor to execute.
Uploading Floor Plans
With your project created, the next step is adding floor plans so your team can visualize the installation.
Open your project and navigate to the Floor Plans section.
Click Upload Floor Plan and select your file. LogicSite accepts PDF files (including multi-page) and common image formats.
Once processed, your floor plan appears on an interactive canvas where you can pan, zoom, and annotate.
Multi-page PDF files are automatically split into individual floor plans. Each page becomes a separate plan within your project, making it easy to manage multi-story buildings.
Understanding the Project View
Once your project is set up, you'll notice several key areas:
- Floor Plans — the interactive canvas where you'll place devices and add annotations
- Grid / Sheets — a spreadsheet-style view of every device with inline editing, bulk status updates, CSV import, and saved column views
- Timeline — Gantt view of project phases, dependencies, and device assignments
- Analytics — device status distributions, trends, and project KPIs
- Activity — an audit feed of placements, status changes, and approvals
- Messages — project-specific discussions with your team
- Team — members assigned to this project and their roles
Projects move through five phases: Design → Install → Closeout → Substantial Completion → Completed. Only Design and Install are selected manually — Closeout auto-engages when a closeout walk starts, and Substantial Completion is set automatically once both parties sign off. Completed is gated on all punch items accepted and the handoff package delivered.
