Device Types
LogicSite ships with a registry of 103 device types organized into seven device group categories. Each device belongs to a group, which controls the canvas icon, abbreviation badge, and default coverage shape.
Supported Categories
Access
21 access control device types — card readers, biometric readers, keypads, mobile readers, electric strikes and locks, request-to-exit devices, door contacts, door position sensors, entry control modules, turnstiles, gate operators, visitor management kiosks, and more.
Camera
12 camera types — bullet, turret, dome, PTZ, multi-sensor, 360° panoramic, license plate recognition (LPR), thermal, explosion-proof, illuminator, encoder, and related housings.
Communications (Comm)
11 communication system types — door stations, video intercoms, master stations, call boxes, audio systems, speakers, emergency call stations, area of refuge stations, mass notification devices.
Intrusion Detection
12 intrusion device types — PIR motion sensors, dual-tech sensors, glass break detectors, door/window contacts, beam sensors, vibration sensors, flood/duress sensors, panic buttons, sirens, indoor air pressure sensors, radar, microwave beams.
Panels
12 control panel types — main access panels, sub-panels, elevator control, relay modules, intrusion modules, power supplies, batteries, UPS, PoE injectors, fire alarm control panels (FACP), and related controllers.
Server
11 back-end infrastructure types — video management servers (VMS), network video recorders (NVR), access control servers (ACS), general servers, databases, workstations, video walls, central video storage, failover/redundant servers, analytics servers.
Network
12 network infrastructure types — managed switches, core and high-density switches, routers, firewalls, wireless access points, media converters, fiber and copper patch panels, cable management, power distribution units (PDU), network racks.
Two additional device families are available in the registry for specialized installations: Screening & Detection (weapon detection portals, X-ray scanners, UV scanners, threat guard stations — 7 types) and Ancillary (emergency lockdown buttons, vehicle barriers, gate controllers, key management, miscellaneous — 5 types). These surface in the device picker but do not have a dedicated top-level group tab.
Device type schemas define the properties and form fields for each of the 103 types. Organizations can also create custom fields (text, number, date, boolean, dropdown, or team member) from Settings → Custom Fields to extend any device type with org-specific attributes (e.g., asset tag, install crew, warranty months).
Filtering by Type
In any project, you can filter the device list by type to focus on a specific system. This is useful when you're working on just the camera layout or need to inventory only the access control devices. The Reports feature also breaks down devices by type for inventory analysis.
